“House of Dolls” by Ms. Goufran Derawan, will be screened in Kazan International Film Festival in September 2023.
This is the 3rd international screening of this short documentary.
The Kazan International Festival of Muslim Cinema (KIFMC) was created in 2005. It takes place at the beginning of September in the town of Kazan, Russia.
Initially it was supposed to be a mobile festival between Muslim regions in Russia and other States of the Muslim world, and the city of Kazan was chosen to be a start point, because it is the biggest Islamic city in the northern hemisphere. The President of the Republic Tatarstan (an autonomous republic within the Russian Federation) insisted that KIFMC should be the Culture Brand of the capital of the Republic “Kazan”, which became the permanent residence for the festival, and city name has been added to the name of the festival.

Among those who expressed a desire to present their film work at the Kazan Muslim Film Festival are representatives of Russia, Ukraine, Iran, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Greece, Kurdistan, Turkey, UAE, Singapore, Tajikistan, India, Estonia, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Egypt, Iraq, Georgia, Armenia, Latvia, Belarus, France, Australia, USA, Canada, Brazil, Bangladesh, Palestine, Syria.
The competition program will be composed by the Head of the Department of Philology and Regional Studies of the Russian Islamic Institute Dr. Timur Shaikhullin and a film critic and author of publications on culture and cinema of Central Asia and Turkey, Director General of the Eurasia Global Connecting Agency Dr. Svetlana Slapke (Germany).
